REPORT: League resumption kicks off after long election month break
An action packed weekend certainly for all the fans that turned out to watch the league resumption games that kicked off on Saturday morning. 4-Christ team certainly didn’t have much to be happy about after an underwhelming performance left them losing to 5-man Pirates who led the game from start to finish. A dominant performance from Pirates guard, Kenneth Omuga popularly known as ‘Kenoh’ left everyone dumbfounded as he put up 17 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Steals and 1 Assist ending up as the player of the game. All the pirates line up ended up with double digit points to outwit the Christians in a battle ensued with harsh trash talk. Final score 64-59 in favor of Pirates. It’s now an uphill battle from now on for 4-Christ who are yet to secure a win and now languish at the bottom of the table.
WKSBC was also a fixture to marvel with Money Team continuing their extraordinary start to their season remaining unbeaten after putting down Mystics for a second time. Money team won 36-33. On the other ladies game Lady Panthers demolished Kiambu Sharks 75-9 as the county ladies continue to struggle.
Scenes of entire dominance was also sighted on the men’s league as Knights beat Soul Kings 87-24 on a one-sided affair led by hard working forward Trevor Opiyo and debutant Matthew Clinton who put up 18 Points, 9 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 6 Steals and 17 Points, 5 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 3 Steals respectively. A notable stat line was from the free scoring guard Simon Mwanzia who had 20 Points, 2 Assists and 1 Rebound. Another domination was by Nexus who beat JKUAT Clippers 60-35 and Ruiru Baptist beating Jaguars 79-45. These were no closely matched games and we’ll be curious to see their performances throughout the season.
FAM Kenya under the tutelage of Coach Chester Oluoch also continued with their win streak beating Nexus in a blowout 54-35 score line led by young guard Calvin Otieno with 22 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 2 Steals and a double-double from big man Clifford Omondi who had 10 Points, 11 Rebounds. Former champions Legends continued with their good form also beating The Firm 48-36 in a high octane game that was very entertaining to the fans.
Take outs from the league resumption weekend is that there will be harder games for the top teams creating rivalries all over with the current standings already creating a depiction of who to expect in the final third of the season. This month’s schedule is halfway out and fans will be biting their lips waiting for more matchups ahead.
