REPORT: It’s second strike for Pirates as KCA earn important win in well performed match

It was a well feted win for KCA early Saturday morning after piping out Thika Pines in a close encounter. The university team put in a well orchestrated gameplan that outwitted their opponents despite the inexperience of the new side. A dominant third quarter put them in a great position leaving Thika Pines chasing the game and with much luck in KCA’s, camp the held on to dear victory final score 42-54 in favour of KCA.

Money team continued their dominance in the WKSBC by outwitting their opponents Lady Panthers 61-34 in a one-sided game. Top performance from Berine Akoth who put up three consecutive 3-pointers to open the game led the way as they easily cruised past their opponents. With the kind of arsenal Money Team holds it’s quite clear who the title favourites are. So will it be back to back for them or shall a new champion emerge?

It was a double header weekend for both Straycats and Soul Kings who ended up with quite differing results. On one hand, Soul Kings weren’t able to manage a win as they lost on both occasions. They were beaten by old guns KSBC Wazee 64-31 and also by 4-Christ 48-40. It’d be exciting to see what a mid table matchup between the old guns and the Christians can produce after this past weekend. On the other hand, Straycats managed to beat Saints in the final game on Saturday evening 69-40 who besides the results put up a spirited fight to the end but were still not a matchup for top of the table contenders Straycats. Pirates were a no show for Sunday’s prime time game against Straycats which was supposed to be a finals matchup. A game of beef from the college level days and now still brewing. It’ll be interesting to see how Pirates bounce back as it is now strike two for the once feted team and former champions.

A recent run of good form led Nexus to yet another win against Jaguars 62-40 who they were facing for the second and last time this season. It has been an interesting turn of events as the Zimmerman based team continue to slowly rise on the standings table. They were led by current KSBC player of the week Sam Owuor who put up 26 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 2 Steals to carry home the award.

Jedi Order managed to spruce themselves up for their upcoming game against Dub Neshen by thrashing Blackhawks 74-50 in the past weekend’s matchup. A one-sided game against a short handed Blackhawks camp that saw karma hit back on Abel Sum III after the shenanigans caused during their game against Legends. Meanwhile its top 4 on the table for Jedi. MKU Nets beat KSBC Wazee in the final minutes of a closely contested game after few mistakes by the old guns. The newbie boys capitalized on the mistakes to take the game in the fourth quarter putting up 14-6 in a well taken run that saw the Wazee camp leave disappointed. MKU who were considered an underdog after revamping their camp from their well known veterans to now being run by freshmen have surprisingly exceeded expectations. They sit comfortably in the top positions and are well in on the playoffs spots.
