REPORT: Lady Panthers marvel win over Rippers as Jedi Order free fall massively to 13th on the log

Jedi Order had yet another outing to forget after a one-sided affair in their game against FAM Kenya on Sunday afternoon. It was clear from the get go as to who would emerge victorious after they were held to only three points the entire first half. FAM Kenya took over, having outmatched Jedi Order on all areas of the court, before backup, in the name of Collins Adodi who put up 11 Points, came to Jedi’s rescue. However, it was a long shot and they ended up being thrashed 80-32.

Thika Pines and Soul Kings, who are yet to have their fortunes turn, both lost their games during the weekend. Thika Pines were outwitted 79-56 by Underdogs despite Ian Mwangi’s strong performance to finish the game. He managed to score 31 Points but put a sub par performance next game where they met a formidable Ruiru Baptist front court of Jackson Waweru, Jayson Makwach and Derrick Igadwa who put up numbers to kill the game. Jackson Waweru took home this week’s crown of player of the week by a massive statline of 35 Points, 13 Rebounds, 4 Steals, 1 Assist, final score 92-57. Wyclife Yoga captained Knights to yet another victory against Soul Kings with a defensive masterpiece from the back court putting up 7 Points, 11 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 7 Steals. It’s now 10 consecutive victories for the side who were missing consistent performer Dolph Otieno but still managed to get away with a blowout victory 67-32.

Collins Adodi goes for a layup against FAM Kenya

WKSBC action took place with Lady Panthers facing MKU Rippers which was finalized by Lady Panthers taking home the victory 63-27. It is proving to be a tough task keeping up with the big girls for Rippers who were dominated by off the bench Jemimah Asiko who put up 13 Points, 16 Rebounds, 5 Steals, 1 Assist against them. It’ll be interesting to see how the victors match up to dominant Money Team when they meet in their next match. It was also a similar outing for Ripper’s male counterparts MKU Nets who also had to battle hard but fell short against 4-Christ who beat them 47-42. The Christians also ousted Thika Pines 55-40 in their previous matchup, a much needed win streak, to ensure their climb up the table takes off.

The highlight of the weekend was a closely contested game that piped Legends against FAM Kenya. The match ended up in overtime after two clutch free throws were sunk by Simeon Rapudo in the final three seconds of the game. A resilient Spencer Kweyu wrecked havoc on the Legends camp scoring with a flurry of reverse layups to keep up with their opponents. It was however difficult for Legends to close the game as they only managed a disappointing single point in overtime to lose the game 54-49. FAM Kenya are proving to be a difficult task even with the experience of the former champions because of their overwhelming size with two thirds of their lineup being over 6’8. It’ll be interesting to see how they progress towards the playoffs.
